The new year has begun and 2021 is officially upon us. This means that it is officially that time of the year. The time to make resolutions. While most resolutions never see light of day or even last beyond a week, we hope these ones do. 2021 is going to be a tough year and you need to make it as easy as you can for yourself (and your sanity). So, we’ve put down some resolutions that are easy to follow, require minimal effort and will actually help make your year happier, more mindful and extremely positive!
This applies for your mental and physical well-being. We tend to become our worst enemy by constantly belittling our achievements, comparing them to others, hating the way we look and more. In 2021, this needs to stop. We need to go easy on ourselves and not push our limits to the breaking point. You need to love yourself, and also, as John Legend said, all your perfect imperfections.
The new normal is mostly staying home and that curbed our daily movement. We don’t walk as much as we used to. Not to the cab, bus stop, gym or work, and that isn’t good! Walking helps clear our mind, refresh us, and keep us fit (it is literally the easiest form of exercise). In 2021, go for more walks and trust us, you will feel the difference.
The pandemic has shown us how badly people were hit. Livelihoods were lost. Most of us, sitting in our furnished apartments felt the sting, so one can only imagine how badly those financially below us must have felt it. In 2021, make a resolution to help someone in need. Whether it’s donating to a charitable organisation or giving meals to the children at traffic signals, do it. It doesn’t even have to be a monetary donation. You can donate food, clothing, sanitary supplies and more. If you can make someone’s life better, do it.
No matter what we do these days, it involves a screen. Whether it’s making a presentation for work or having a virtual family games night, we are in front of a screen. Laptops, phones, tabs, watches and more command our attention (and eyes) for most of the day, and it isn’t good. Personally, my eyes start watering after a long screen-day and I get terrible headaches. We need a break from our screens and reading is the solution. Reading a physical book is nostalgic, magical and absolutely lovely. You can read novels, self-help books, cookbooks or even encyclopedias! It help you unwind, learn something new and give your eyes a much-needed break. Plus, lets not forget about that intoxicating book smell!
When was the last time you wrote something? Physically put pen to paper and wrote something meaningful? Writing, no matter what it is, has so many feel-good factors attached to it. In 2021, your resolution must be to maintain a journal. In that journal, write whatever comes to mind, as often as you can. You can describe your day, your frustrations, last night’s dreams, write a poem, express gratitude or even doodle! Writing will help make you feel better and more connected to yourself.
2021 has barely begun and it’s already has multiple strings attached to it. We’re putting so much pressure on this year that we don’t need to put it on ourselves. These 5 resolutions are sure to make your year happier, mindful and more positive.
