The start of a new year presents us with a metaphorical “reset” button for the year gone by. It’s an opportunity to reflect and reassess your goals and the vision you have for your life. No matter what you want to achieve—to learn a new language, to practice mindfulness, to exercise more, to look for a new job, to find love or improve your current relationship, to travel more—a vision board can help you.
Simply put, a vision board is a fun and creative process to set clear intentions for what you want in your life, so you can grow and transform yourself. To understand more about how we can create a vision board and use it to manifest our desires, we reached out to Manifestation and Mindset Coach, Mansi Dhanak. Mansi says,
I first started creating vision boards in 2015. My recent vision board had a picture of a sunset date set up in the middle of a pool which manifested in five weeks and I ended up living my dream in Maldives at the same exact place!
Vision boards have reportedly been used to accomplish goals by Ellen Degeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Harvey, Shahrukh Khan, Katy Perry, Jack Canfield, John Assaraf, Michele Obama and others.
According to Mansi, the idea of creating a vision board is rooted in the ‘Law of Attraction’, that is, what we focus on is what we attract more of. So, when we create a vision board, it gets us thinking about what we want to attract into our life. Moreover, by placing the vision board somewhere we can look at daily, it helps us stay focused on our desires, and moves us away from any perceived state of “lacking”.
Vision boards help bring out the inner child. It’s about what your heart, mind and soul want and desire. It’s a fun and powerful way to tap into what’s calling you, and how it’s calling you to show up and achieve those things.
Mansi says,
In order to attract what you truly desire, the vision board alone won’t do the magic. You must see it, feel it, and embody it. Ask your self how do you want your 2021 to look like. What do you want to co-create or manifest?
In order to start creating your desires, you first need to know what you want. Create your own vision board, a mood board that unveils your hidden goals and desires. Stick pictures of your desires on a board with glue, get colourful and have fun!
To create the best vision board to help you get clarity on what you want, here are some simple and essential steps:
By using our imagination and practising the art of “act as if…”, that is, assuming that the wishes are being fulfilled and steadfastly refusing to allow any evidence of the outer world to distract us from our intentions, we will feel gratitude in advance and have the confidence to take the required actions.
The important thing to remember is that the words and images should provoke positive feelings in you. When you feel good, you think positively, and attract more positivity into your life. Don’t make a vision board full of what other people want for you. Stay true to yourself, create your own amazing vision board, and most of all, enjoy the process!
Mansi says,
You won’t have your vision board with you at all times, but if you close your eyes, you can visualise the images it holds. Highly kinaesthetic people can generate the same, strong emotions with or without their vision board. Use this trick throughout the day to inspire and motivate you. It’s not magic, but it can feel magical as things begin to change for you. Let yourself have a little fun creating and using your vision board.
